    No, but there are some groups out there who rips UHD Blu-ray to 1080p, because they and some downloaders actually belive that they get a better quality rip out of it 🙂

    Whether or not the video quality is better actually depends on the quality on the transfer. If the UHD often UHD Blu-Rays, in addition to obviously being sharper, have also a different colour grading and/or exposition level, resulting in an overall different picture. Whether or not the quality ultimately ends up being superior to the “standard” 1080p Blu-Ray is to judge on a case-by-case basis.
