Hello !

It was filmed with Aspect Ratio 1.78 : 1 = 16/9 and the DVD version had an Aspect Ratio from 1.78 : 1 = 16/9 !. This version is only 4:3 and the picture ist cropped on the left & right side (i compared the DVDRip with this version) 🙁

Yep , thats why there is no reason to lost RG transfer to downloading this !!! Similar was with series – Charmed where first here were seasons 3-8 in 4/3 and now on other forum there is full 16/9 in even better quality.

A proper 16:9 1080p version is not possible. The original version aired in 4:3. All of the special effects are 4:3. That would mean to be able to keep all of the image area of the special effects, they would have to stay 4:3, while the film elements would be 16:9. That would result in the image jarring back and forth between 16:9 and 4:3. To make the special effects 16:9, means cropping off some of the top and bottom of the image, leaving 360 lines to be upconverted to 1080p. Those scenes would look like crap. Many thanks for this. As an FYI, Warner Bros made some errors when remastering two episodes, the last 2 scenes of “Babylon Squared” are missing (approx 3 mins). The other affected is Hour of the Wolf missing its opening 2 mins
