Thank a BIG BIG bunch!
For some reason, HDR + REC.2020 seems to be neglected lately, while 4K alone is barely noticeable. I appreciate getting full UHD for this show.
I guess you can’t really compress much out hdr or rec.2020. HDR is rumored to even decrease the overall bit rate, i heard.
Streaming sites want to keep the bitrate as low as possible while keeping “acceptable” quality, so 4k will suffers the most. This show has 1/3 to 1/4 of the bitrate of a bluray movie. High bitrate 4K with a good camera should always be noticeable.
I’ve also noticed more 4K releases without HDR lately, and it’s also true that 4K without HDR and a quite low bitrate can sometimes not be that great compared to a 1080p, given that most of the last good tv do a brillant job. The quality of the original 4K source plays a role too.
