This release does not have any English language subtitles, and is in German. However you can download English subs, which I have checked and they are correctly synchronised, at Open Subtitles Dot Org. The correct one to get is Vampyros Lesbos 1971 720p BluRay FLAC 2.0 x264-VietHD. Just rename it to the same filename and you’re good to go.
I found that those subs don’t quite work because they are intended for a frame rate of 23.976, whereas this video runs at 24. That means they get a few seconds out of sync by the end. I fixed that by muxing them in using MKVToolNix and applying a stretch factor of 0.999000999 (i.e., 1000/1001).
Thanks, Colin, I did discover that eventually when I sat down to watch it properly. I had only checked the first 5 minutes when I left my comment. Then I tried applying a uniform shift using Subtitle Edit, which of course didn’t work, or it did at the latter part but not at the start! Anyway, there’s a new 4K transfer out now. Always the way 😀
