Is this the original or the new woke version where they replace the guns with walkie talkies or whatever nonsense it is?
In the original release, the government agents pursuing E.T. and Elliot had weapons in their hands. In the 2002 20th anniversary edition, the guns were digitally replaced with walkie-talkies. This edition says 1982 and the run-time matches that of the 1982 edition.
I confirmed the bad guys have guns (Verified at 1:39:54ish)
