Much improved bit rate…french release from last year?
Yes, I believe so
Thank you!
Thanks!
Excuse my ignorance, but as the UHD Blurays are only HDR10, what is the story with Dolby Vision encoding?
I’ve seen this before with releases on this board and it confuses me.
I thought a Remux was just taking the original streams and repackaging them not adding processing to it?
You can demux the web download containing dolby vision stream and mux it with the existing REMUX creating a “hybrid” in the process ,often used to mix more than one sound source ,for example ,you could have an Atmos ,DTS 5.1 and AC-3 all in one mkv file.
What’s interesting I couldn’t find a release for RE movies with DV on bluray.com , it’d be interesting to see where the new source comes from.
No, many UHD Blurays have DV support. These releases have a ‘full enhancement layer’ dolby vision profile 7. This additional layer on official bluray releases are often around 5GB in size. The base layer is HDR10. Together producing a 12-bit video without the need for bigger colorspace requirements in the decoder like you need with web-dv releases with profile 5 (showing pink/green colors on displays without dolby vision profile 5 support).
So yes, these are untouched remuxes of the original sources.
But as I said before the original sources do not contain Dolby Vision!
So an untouched remux should be HDR10 not Dolby Vision.
Sorry I think I may be confusing people, to be clear when I say the UHD Blurays and original sources I am talking about these specific Resident Evil discs not UHD Blurays in general. As arek said if you check blu-ray.com you will see all the 4k UHD Blu-rays of these specific titles do not contain Dolby Vision.
That’s true, the origin is also unknown to me. But since this version contains a full enhancement layer with a size of 5.38GB, this can’t be a hybrid created by WEB-DL DV metadata.
The list on Bluray site is missing a some asian releases, such as the John Wick trilogy released in Korea. Where all 3 movies contain full enhancement layer DV.
I bet this is an asian release.
mm, probably not asian, as it doesnt contain asian subs hehe 😀
They are French UHD BD releases:
