This post with the MKV 7+ hrs. on one file, there is no subtitles except for credits at the beginning of the movie and the originals in French.
There are subtitles available for download on the 2 DVD m2ts version... one for each disk. Search on the internet for Napoleon 1927 and look for the 2024 restoration version.

Sources
Source #1: Potemkine 2025 FRA UHD Blu-ray: Used everything (Thanks anonymous!)
Source #2: Custom translation SRT of Part 1 of HDTV rip: Used for hybrid subtitle track; see notes (Thanks SyllabiaMinora@X!)
Source #3: Custom translation SRT of Parts 1 & 2 of HDTV rip: Used for hybrid subtitle track; see notes (Thanks eladir@subsource/neolone@PTP!)

Video
Video demuxed from Source #1 using latest DGDemux with merge DV function. Single m2ts for each so no playlist-level padding but the individual streams themselves are padded (see notes). Tracks concatenated with mkvmerge via MKVToolNix. Dolby Vision MEL already has CM v4.0 so no modification needed. Dolby Vision plot

Potemkine disc provides the only 4K and HDR video of the new 7 hour Grande Version, but a higher resolution version of the final act (triptych section) does technically exist. BFI 2016 Blu-ray contains individual panel presentations of each reel from the triptych (2K scan, 3x1080p), which could be combined to a higher overall resolution 4:1 video than the letterboxed 4:1 on the Potemkine disc (5K scan, shrunk to ~720px height.) If you own an ultrawide monitor and do this, please send me a picture. While the letterboxing on the triptych is perhaps unavoidable, Cinematheque Francaise made the questionable decision to precede the triptych with very very slow zoom out until the 4:3 frame takes up only about 1/9 of the screen as it takes its place as the center of the triptych, which is unfortunate. Some cursive typeface becomes borderline unreadable at this point. People complained about this intensely at the premiere in July 2024 so I doubt it will be changed in any future release of this restoration.

Audio
TrueHD 5.1 and 5.1 compatibility track demuxed from Source #1 with eac3to then concatenated with mkvmerge via MKVToolNix.

Subtitles
Video contains French credits and intertitles. At the time of writing, no retail subs exist or have been announced! For this reason, I created a hybrid track using custom translations from Sources #2 and #3, both synced to the previous HDTV rip. Source #2 only translated Part 1, but included all of the restoration and production info before the opening credits. Since Source #3 translates both parts, it was used for the film's intertitles and Source #2 was used for the opening credits and production information (Everything up to opening "BONAPARTE" title card.) The translation seems generally good to my eye, striking the right mood and accurately translating some linguistic nuances, such as the change in Francization of Buonaparate/Bonaparte depending on the scene. Some minor textual edits were made for capitalization, sentences that broke across several lines awkwardly, etc. Note that due to the frequent citations and attributions in the intertitles, many are best formatted as three lines. Subtitle durations were generally inconsistent with the duration of the intertitles so I synced each line frame by frame to its corresponding intertitle. The syncing is more lax for the production and restoration information due to the amount of text but all of the intertitles are properly synced.

Chapters
Numbered chapters from both discs merged and chapters were synced to the nearest scene transition I-frame. Duplicate chapters at end of disc 1/start of disc 2 removed, end credits chapter added, empty chapter at end of disc 2 removed. No chapter titles were available, but titles denoting the beginning of each disc's contents were added.

Notes
Aside from the lack of subtitles and the letterboxed triptych, the biggest issue with this disc is the padding that Potemkine inserted into the film at the end of the first three acts. The film is broken into four acts, which are partitioned with acts 1+2 in disc 1 and acts 3+4 in disc 2. I measured ~10 seconds of perceptual silence at the longest. Example from end of act 1 (~2:23:00-2:24:00). I suspect this was done to accommodate the act partition in the 3xBD50 HD release and they wanted to use the same master for both versions but were too lazy to break up the m2ts files. I spent quite a bit of time trying to trim these out, but trimming on I-frames led to compounding audio desyncs and, due to the difficulty of identifying IDR vs. I-frames in HEVC streams, I decided to keep them in to ensure the audio remains synced for the entire video. Theatrically, the end of the acts were often used as intermissions, breaks for the orchestra, or even up to 90 minute long dinner breaks, so consider these extra ~40 seconds in the same tradition. Thanks a lot to vevv and xzin for their help and advice on this remux. Enjoy!
