Thanks for not destroying the Dolby Vision track by putting it in an MKV container!

I agree with you, not just for DV I do not have an atmos receiver and do not plan to have one, but if the film is done in MKV and is in Atmos my machine won’t convert the Atmos to HD audio unless it is from a physical disc or the file is in M2TS..

You can use ffmpeg to make an MKV file copying the 1st Video and TrueHD or DTS track and convert the Audio to 640k ac3 making the ac3 track the 1st Audio track. Copy the code below and make a bat file. Drag and drop the MKV onto it to convert. You’ll need to register ffmpeg in your Windows system environment variables or modify the command line to call it up from its exact directory. Cheers!

it will convert it if it is not a 4K film but 1080P is fine just not 4K atmos, then I have to settle for compatibility track, which i’d rather not. Also had trouble with subtitles too with these files. So I think overall to make these 4K files in MKV is not a good idea, although maybe ok for some people. It is not good for me. Although Ironically MKV is a great format. It is just not really compatible for me when using 4K files. I have a Sony machine.
